PTA Founders Day

We have had some wonderful people step up to lead our Woodlands PTA this year. There have been some great new ideas and a lot of effort put in for our students. Our golden acorn award winner this year is one of the new additions: Richard Godwin. Richard is the father of a 3rd grade student at Woodlands. At any event that benefits our school, you will find Richard. This year alone he has taken on our Skate Nights enhancing them to include fun hands on science activities. He also volunteers with our STEM club at school and contributes at every PTA meeting. He was instrumental in securing donations for tonight’s silent auction baskets as well. Richard and his family come to every family night and are enthusiastic supporters of our school. We thank Richard for his volunteer contributions and want to express our appreciation. Thank you Richard.

This year our outstanding educator award goes to Patricia Mendez. Patricia has been in our school district for three years. She teaches 3rd grade at Woodlands. Her connections with her students and her ability to differentiate instruction is simply outstanding. She creates unique and engaging instructional experiences for her students on a daily basis. Her classroom is full of the hustle and bustle of students learning together. She also assures her students’ success by working with them before and after school. In addition to her classroom instructional excellence, Patricia contributes to our school culture in many ways. She leads two clubs at our school: STEM club and Girls on the Run. She is a leader for our Positive behavior support team and has been instrumental in implementing our self manager program and social skills lunch bunch groups. Patricia has represented our school in the United Way campaign as well. She is a true teacher leader and unfortunately will be moving away after this school year. Our school community will miss her greatly!
