Attendance

When a child is absent from school, he/she misses more than just the day’s lessons. Class discussions and teacher explanations are essential to successful learning.

If a child is sick, he/she should stay home. Missing school for any other reason can become a bad habit. Please show your child how important you think good attendance is. Schedule appointments and family business after school hours.

Be sure to notify the school office by 9 a.m. if your child is going to be absent. An automated phone call will go out if we have not heard from you by 9:30 a.m. For safety reasons, you will be contacted again later in the morning if we still do not hear from you.

We are required to mark the absence unexcused if we do not hear from you.

Unexcused Absences

Washington State law has strict guidelines for student attendance. Students with five unexcused absences in a month or 10 in a year must be reported to the state as truant. Two unexcused absences in a month required a conference with the principal. Learn more about unexcused absences.

Missed Assignments

If your child must stay home, call the school for missed assignments and make sure they are completed in a timely manner. Teachers require 24 hours’ notice so homework can be prepared.

Late Arrival

Be sure to call the school office at 360-662-9700 if your child is going to arrive late. Late arriving students must check in at the office and pick up a pass before they go to class. If your child wants a lunch, please call before 9:15 a.m. so a lunch can be ordered.

Early Dismissal

Parents wishing to pick up their child early must come to the office and sign them out. Please send a note with your child on the day of the early dismissal or call the office 5 minutes before you are picking them up so your child will be prepared when you come to pick him/her up.
