Principal Announcements

Hello Wildcat Families!
Last week we honored our Veterans, 3rd grade had an author visit and we all practiced rainy day recess routines. This week, we are looking forward to Family Reading Night!! Come Cozy Up with a Good Book - details about the event are in the flyer below. We hope to see lots of Wildcats there!!

Quick Heads Up:
  • Central Valley Road closure is scheduled from 7:00am - 2:30pm on Tuesday, Nov. 18.
  • General education school buses will not be servicing bus stops between Foster Rd NE and Bucklin Hill Rd NW.
  • Drivers of special needs routes will work directly with families.

As we look ahead to Thanksgiving week, please continue to let our office know if your family will be taking longer than the traditional weekend. This helps keep our attendance records accurate and allows your child's teacher to plan for activities or events they may miss.

Stay safe and stay connected -

Progress Takes Practice
As we continue our work with the Second Step program, students are learning that progress doesn’t happen overnight—it takes time, effort, and a lot of patience with ourselves. This week, we’re reinforcing the idea that practice is how we grow, and mistakes are a normal (and necessary!) part of learning.
At school, we’re seeing students take academic and social risks—raising their hands even when unsure, trying new strategies, and learning from setbacks. These small moments are signs of big growth!
Here are this week’s Growth Mindset Tips to support that same mindset at home:
🧠 This Week’s Growth Mindset Tips:
  • For K–2nd Graders:
  • Try this mantra together: “I try my best, and I get better every day.” Repeat it before a homework task, practice session, or even a frustrating moment. Keep it short, simple, and positive—they’ll start to believe it!

  • For 3rd–5th Graders:
  • At dinner or during car rides, ask: “What’s one mistake you made today—and what did you learn from it?” This helps normalize mistakes and encourages reflection. Celebrate the learning, not just the “win.”

Thank you for being a key part of helping our students grow into confident, capable learners! Questions? Contact our school counselor at: Katef@ckschools.org 360-662-9700, X9716

Attendance Counts

Looks like illnesses are taking hold. Stay healthy and if your student stays home be sure to check in with their teacher to see what they may have missed.

When to Keep Your Student Home?
Remember to please call the office if your child is going to need to stay home for any reason, so that our attendance records are accurate. As a reminder, here are the guidelines on when to keep your student home:

Attendance is such an important factor in a child’s education Journey. If you need any support in improving your child’s attendance, please reach out to your teacher or myself, the student support specialist, Jon Campbell, (360) 662-9717.

PTA News

Hello Families!

I wanted to start this message with a tough topic. We know that many of our Woodlands families are experiencing some very tough and uncertain times. Very specifically regarding the current economy and government shutdown. Woodlands PTA stands with you - We see you and we hear you. Our hearts are very heavy knowing that so many of our families are having to navigate this. We are a non-judgement zone so please do not feel shame should you need to reach out to the school, our email, a teacher, or counselor for resources and help.
Anything that OUR PTA does is always voluntary and NEVER an expectation. Our goal is to have as many no cost/low cost events as possible and welcome everyone at those events.

There are ways to help!
·     BOX TOPS! If you are purchasing food anyway please scan your receipt to the Box Tops app. There are so many products that are Box Tops products that qualify for school compensation. All you have to do is have the app and scan the receipt. No cutting off box tops or anything! Bonus- anyone in your family can do this too! Including those friends and families that live far away. If you need any assistance please contact any PTA officer and we are happy to help. Our school currently uses any proceeds from Box Tops towards school supplies for ALL students.
·     Wreath fundraiser – This is a very low key fundraiser. Our stance is simple. IF you are buying a wreath, centerpiece, or garland – purchase from Woodlands PTA. Because we work directly with our nursery/farm we are able to offer them at a much lower cost than others. Any profit that is made from the Wreath Fundraiser goes to directly benefit our Woodlands Families experiencing hardships. We need any orders for wreaths no later than Nov 20th.  https://shorturl.at/E08MB
·     Food Drive – We will be collecting non-perishable food items from Nov 10-21st. Items donated to the school will go towards the Woodlands Food Pantry for families at school.

We have a F.A.C.E. event planned for December 2nd. This is event FREE to attend and family friendly. Our topic for the night is “Internet Safety" led by our local resource officer, Joseph Ring.

This is the first of many F.A.C.E. (Family And Community Engagement) events that will be happening this year. After the new year we will be doing a discussion on the book “The Anxious Generation” – be sure to watch for a survey regarding this event.

Santa Breakfast is going to be on Saturday Dec 6th. This is free to attend and will have Santa as our special guest. Feel free to take some photo’s with your kids and Santa. There will also be free crafts and a pancake breakfast. Santa Shop will be open and all items will only be $1 for purchase (cash only.) Great time for the kids to do some shopping and take advantage of the FREE gift wrapping available.

Kindly,
Rachell Beals – PTA President
